Ballinskelligs, with its beautiful Blue Flag beach, sits on the western edge of stunning Ballinskelligs Bay on the scenic Skellig Ring road which connects us to our neighbouring village, The Glen, an area of outstanding natural beauty with the most magical views of The Skelligs. Spirituality, history and legend entwine here in many ancient archaeological sites from the iconic McCarthy Tower to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Skellig Michael - one of the earliest and most well preserved, christian spiritual centres in Ireland and Ballinskelligs is a renowned Gaeltacht (Irish speaking area) with the beautiful 'blás' of the Munster dialect. We are a small and friendly community and we look forward to sharing with you, the very best of Ballinskelligs and The Glen. * www.visitballinskelligs.ie is a community website managed entirely by unpaid volunteers * The new Ballinskelligs Calendar of Events 2013 was launched on Easter Monday's Gathering Event at Cable O'Leary's Bar. The 2013 calendar is again bi-lingual as a lot of people have found this to be a great help in getting to know more Irish and we have had very positive feedback.
